Sydney Carol Birong

Sydney Carol Birong age 89, of Buchanan died Wednesday, March 27th at Wilds River Rest Nursing Home. She was born October 13, 1923, in Syracuse, Indiana to the late Charles & Eva (LeCount) Yazell. She and Phillip Birong were married in Tennessee. He preceded her in death in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Bruce) Ruff of Buchanan; son, Roger “Skip” Birong of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Marilyn Parker of Niles and June Potter of Gainesville, FL; two brothers, Max and Bud Yazell of Melbourne, FL; eleven grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Her daughter Deborah Kay, two sons Phillip and John Edward Birong, and a sister Beverly Smith preceded her in death. Sydney was a life time resident of Buchanan and enjoyed dancing, working with ceramics and quilting. Prior to moving to Wilds River Rest she had resided at Meta Court.Visitation will be Friday, March 29th at Swem Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Services will be on Saturday, March 30th at 10:00 a.m. also at Swem Chapel.
