Alice's Obituary

Alice S. Rabon, age 86, of Glen Ellyn, IL died Friday, June 21st, at the home of her daughter Kathleen Slucas of Buchanan, MI. Alice came to Buchanan two months ago to spend her final days with her daughter and family. She was born December 1, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Prokup) Diskoviak. She married Marvin E. Rabon on September 21, 1945, who preceded her in death in 1973. A sister, Helen Galbavy, also preceded her in death.Alice is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (William) Slucas, of Buchanan, and grandchildren: Alison Slucas of Colorado Springs, CO, Victoria Slucas of Berrien Center, MI, Julia Slucas of Salome, AZ, Matthew Slucas of Niles, MI, and Elizabeth Slucas of Buchanan, MI. She is also survived by nieces Carole (Maynard) Ellis of Arlington, TX and Joyce (Ted) Callis of Chicago, IL. A grandson, William C. Slucas, Jr., preceded her in death.Alice had been a homemaker and later a cook at Loretto Convent for over 35 years. She was an active and life member of the VFW Auxiliary in Wheaton, IL, a life member of the Girl Scouts of the USA, recently retired Program Coordinator for the Loretto Low Vision Group and a Hines Veteran’s Hospital Chairperson for many years.A Funeral Mass will be held at Loretto Convent in Wheaton, IL, on July 17th, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, as per her request, memorials may be made to Hospice at Home, Buchanan, MI or Hine’s Blind Rehab Center through the Wheaton VFW.
