William's Obituary

William A. Feather III, 79, of Baroda, Michigan, died January 28, 2014, in his home with family, after his battle with cancer. He was born on September 20, 1934, to the late Edward A. and Irene (Burkholm) Feather in Baroda, Michigan. Bill graduated from Berrien Springs High School, and attended Michigan State University and Andrews University. He served in the Army Reserves for six years before being honorably discharged in 1963. He was married to Mildred (Vitek) Feather on June 6, 1959. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2009. After working for Leco in the 1960’s, Bill continued his lifelong work on the farm, family owned since 1917, with raising fruits, row crops and landscaping plants and trees (Feathers Nursery/Greenhouse). Bill also enjoyed fishing, both at the river and small lakes. Bill was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; three daughters; Debbie (Gerald) Schmaltz, Lorraine (Brent) Ashby, Kathy (Richard) Fanslau; and six granddaughters; Ashley & Andrea Schmaltz, Allison, Katy, & Becky Ashby, and Emma Fanslau. Preceded in death were his parents and a sister Mary (Feather) Abbott. Visitation will be at 10:30 AM and Funeral at 12:00, held at Swem Chapel in Buchanan, Michigan on Friday, January 31st. Burial will follow at Ruggles Cemetery on Stevensville-Baroda Rd. in Baroda, Michigan.
