Jack's Obituary
Jack Clayton Cook, age 92, formerly of Galien, died Wednesday, June 26th, at the Buchanan Meadows. He was born December 29, 1920, in Buchanan to the late Lawrence & Esther (Frederickson) Cook. On September 22, 1946, he married Louise M. Smallwood; she preceded him in death on June 24, 2011.Jack is survived by two sons, Keven (Holly) Cook of Trufanat, Michigan and David (Brenda) Cook of Galien; along with three grand children, Barry (Beth) Cook, Erin Cook and Jared Marshall Cook; and three great-grandchildren, Simon, Elliott and Annabell Cook. His granddaughter, Raelinda Cook, and a brother, Eugene Cook, preceded him in death.Jack enjoyed playing golf, painting, gardening and singing. Following graduation from Niles High School in 1938 he attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado on an athletic scholarship. He was a First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp’s during World War II. Jack worked in the grocery business most of his adult life, including managing the former S&S Super Market in Buchanan.Graveside services will be held on Sunday, June 30th, at 12:30 P.M. at the Galien Cemetery in Galien, Michigan. Military Honors will be given by the Galien American Legion Post 344, of which he was a member. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice at Home, 1234 Napier Ave., St. Joseph, Michigan 49085.
