Ancel M. Jansen

Ancel M. Jansen, 86, of Buchanan, died Wednesday, January 15, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN. She was born June 11, 1927 in Sas van Gent, Netherlands; to Edward and Martha Kersbuick. On August 1, 1950 in St. Hubert, Netherlands; she married Peter H. Jansen who preceded her in death. She and Peter emigrated from the Netherlands in 1955 to the United States. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret (Mike) Cochran of Niles; and a son, Tony (Linda) Jansen of Niles. Three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Ancel worked as a nurse’s aide at the former Niles-Pawating Hospital for 17 years. She delivered Meals on Wheels, enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting, and the time spent with her grandchildren. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 20, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Buchanan. Rev. Fr. Richard L. Altine, parish priest, will officiate.
