Jimmie L Bransford

Jimmie L. Bransford, age 80, of Buchanan, Michigan, died Monday November 3, 2014 at Brentwood of Niles. He was born December 17, 1933 in Argos, Indiana, to the late Paul and Bertha (Overmyer) Bransford. After graduating from Webster High School in 1952 he joined the Navy where he served aboard the USS Toledo until 1956. Upon completion of his service time he enrolled in Grace College and graduated in the 1960 with a Bachelor’s degree in education. On June 6, 1963 in Greensburg, Indiana, he married Lois M. Schroeder who preceded him in death on July 20, 2010. Jimmie is survived by his son, Jeffrey Bransford, of Huntington Beach, California.  He worked as a postal clerk at the Niles Post Office until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Moose Lodge 447 and American Legion Post 51, both of Buchanan. He was also a member of the Dry Dockers Association. A service celebrating his life will be Saturday, November 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Swem Chapel in Buchanan where friends may visit one hour prior to the service, with Pastor Rob McPherson of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Humane Society of Southwest Michigan, 641 S. Crystal Ave., Benton Harbor, MI 49022.
