Kevin's Obituary

Kevin E. Olmstead, 79, of Galien died Wednesday March 5th at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI.  He was born November 14, 1934, in Buchanan, third son of Lester and Eleanor (Boyce) Olmstead. On October 24, 1954 he married Ruth Reitz. Kevin was a self employed mechanic. He owned and operated gas stations, an automobile agency, and a snowmobile shop in Galien. He was a charter member of the Galien Junior Chamber Of Commerce and held memberships in the Recreational Vehicle Association and the King Midget Car Club. Additional survivors include daughter, Rebecca (Gary) Smith of Alexandra, OH; two sons, Scott (Vicki) Olmstead of Geneva, IL; and Michael Olmstead of Buchanan; brother, Clare Olmstead of Galien; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother, Dale, and great-grandson, Silas. Visitation will be Sunday, March 9th, 3-7 p.m. at Swem Chapel in Buchanan. Funeral service celebrating his life will be Monday, March 10th, 11:00 a.m. at Community of Christ church in Galien. Elder Lewis Lambert will officiate. Burial will follow at Galien Cemetery.
