Betty Jo Hoag

Betty was born April 9, 1948 in Marked Tree, Arkansas, the daughter of Aubrey and Emily (Young) Holt.  She moved to Galien, Michigan as a child and lived there her entire life.  After graduation from GalienHigh School, she attended NationalBeautyCollege and graduated with a degree in Cosmetology. On March 23, 1968 she married Edward I. Hoag of Buchanan. Betty was a retired hairdresser and was the Treasurer for the Village of Galien for several years.  Betty enjoyed flower gardening and camping with her husband, but her greatest love was her grandchildren. She was affectionately known by all of her nieces, nephews and friends as Aunt B. Betty is survived by her husband Edward; children Corinna (Jay) Stark, of Chesterton, Indiana, and Timothy Scott (Dawn) Hoag, of Aurora, Illinois; grandchildren Eddie, Joey, Carmen, Aaden, Balin, and Rylan; sister Kate (Jim) Westveer and brother Tim (Marie) Holt, both of Galien; father, Aubrey Holt of Buchanan, Michigan. Betty was preceded in death by her mother, Emily Holt and her Aunt Carrol Maslowski. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Swem Chapel, Buchanan, Michigan with Pastor Garland Rhodes of the PortageRoadGeneralBaptistChurch officiating.
