Clayton's Obituary
Clayton (Gene) Flanagan, age 78, of Buchanan died Monday at West Woods of Niles. He was born March 26, 1936 in Buchanan to the late Clayton & Alice Littrell Flanagan.
Survivors include his wife Caroline (Sands) Flanagan, who he married August 13, 1961 in Cassopolis, Michigan; two daughters Christina Olinghouse and Connie (Steve) Mullen, both of Buchanan; two sons Clayton (Sandra) Flanagan of Niles and Charles Flanagan of South Bend; one sister Phyllis (Walter) Seratt of Dowagiac, Michigan; six grandchildren Brianne, Joshua and Olivia Flanagan, Jenna and Justin Mullen and Mehkenna Olinghouse.
Clayton worked as a machinist for twenty-one years at the former Clark Equipment Co. He served in the Navy following the Korean War. His hobbies were bird watching, spending time in the out-of-doors and mowing the lawn.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 15th at Swem Chapel in Buchanan where a service celebrating his life will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Dave Mitchell from Faith Victory Fellowship will officiate. Military Honors will be given by Post 51 American Legion at Oak RidgeCemetery in Buchanan.
