James May

James F. May age 87 of Buchanan died Sunday May 10, 2015 at Memorial Hospital South Bend, Indiana.  James was born April 23, 1928 in Goshen, Indiana to the late Harold & Nina Metcalf May.  On September 17, 1950 in Buchanan he married Martha Miller, who survives along with three daughters: Marcia (David) Crockett- New Carlisle, Indiana, Kim (Bruce) Klug- Buchanan, Michigan and Lisa May of Muncie, Indiana, one son Steve (Carla) May – Buchanan, Michigan, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren, two brothers: Bud May- Phoenix, Arizona and Maurice May – Buchanan.  Five sisters preceded him in death. Jim loved working out of doors, chopping wood and has been active member of the Buchanan Township Fire Department as well as St. Joseph Valley Lodge #4 of Niles.  He also was employed by Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan where he worked as a welder. A time to visit with the family will be Wednesday, May 13th 3-5 & 6-8 p.m. at Swem Chapel where Masonic Rites will be given at 7:30.  Services celebrating his life will be on Thursday, May 14th at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Randy Pearman of Bethel Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan.
