Leona's Obituary

Leona C. Proud, age 80, of Buchanan, passed away Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at Woodland Terrace in Niles. She was born February 5, 1935 in Clinton, IL to the late Russell and Clara (Luckenbill) Clifton. On June 27, 1953 she married Edward Proud, who survives; along with two daughters Debbie Hess of Gainesville, FL and Christine (Steve) Adamo of  Conyers, GA; one sister Kathy (Henry) Camp of Ft. Meyers, FL; and a brother Russell (Mary Jo) Clifton of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Other survivors include 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Leona was preceded in death by two sisters Betty Mitchell and Thelma Yoakum and two brothers Leon and Jim Clifton. Leona had worked for Kawaner Company in Niles for twenty-five years, and then she became a licensed realtor working for Cressy & Everett Real-Estate Company in Niles. A service celebrating her life will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan, with Pastor Edward Slate of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Swem Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan.
