Rose was born July 26, 1919 in Cathay, North Dakota, to Theodore and Mary (Ursacki) Zachman.  She graduated from BuchananHigh School, and remained a proud resident of Buchanan for over eighty years. She worked at the former Clark Equipment Company in Buchanan for over two decades.  As a favorite aunt to her nieces and nephews, she loved sharing summer trips to TowerHillBeach on Lake Michigan with them, followed by a good hamburger and ice cream floats. Rose made friends easily and kept them for life.  Whenever Rose shared a meal with you at any of her favorite restaurants, she was greeted by a steady stream of friends who stopped by to chat. She was a daily communicant at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where she brought dog biscuits to morning mass for Blue, the gregarious pet of one of her favorite pastors. When she retired, she enjoyed reading, dining out, the good company of her many friends and traveling, especially to the Holy Land.  Her generous spirit and lively company will be missed by her family, her longest and best friend from the age of 10, Karol Shreve, of Elkhart, Indiana, and Bob Wyckoff of Brentwood in Niles, Michigan. Rose is survived by her oldest brother “Zach” Zachman’s three children: Ted Zachman of Rotunda West, Florida and Saluda, North Carolina, Bill Zachman of Groveland, California and Susan Van Dyne of Williamsburg, Massachusetts as well as her oldest sister, Mary Hartl’s four daughters Ione Hartl, Rita Burg, Ruth Hartl, and Patricia McDaniels.  She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Valdimir, John, George and William and sisters Mary, Rebecca and Victoria.
