Eleanor's Obituary

Eleanor Louise Sherman, age 89, a resident of Hickory Creek Texas since 1976, formerly of Galien, Michigan, died Tuesday April 21, 2015 in Denton, Texas.  She was born October 1st, 1925 in Galien to the late Currie and Anna (Warnke) McLaren, who preceded her in death; along with her husband of 52 years, Clark B. Sherman, who died March 22, 2002. A brother Fred, and a sister Margaret, also preceded her in death. Eleanor is survived by a son, Bruce, his wife Julie Sherman of Lake Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Brian and Hailey; many nieces and nephews; and grand nieces and nephews. Eleanor worked for the Lake Dallas ISD in the cafeteria, and many years in the Middle School library. While residing in Galien, she and her husband were active members of the Olive Branch United Methodist Church, where services celebrating her life  will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Rob McPherson officiating.  Burial will follow at Galien Cemetery. A time to visit with the family will be on Friday, May 1st, from 4-8 p.m. at Swem Chapel in Buchanan. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Lake Cities UMC, Floyd Wright Scholarship fund, the choir, or the children’s youth ministries program, 300 E. Hundley Drive Lake Dallas, Texas 75065.
