Ilene Marie Osborn

Ilene Marie Osborn, loving and beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 72, of Buchanan, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, December 24th, 2015.  Ilene was born on September 7th, 1943, to Bertram and Beatrice (Gardner) Chambers in South Bend, Indiana.  Ilene graduated from Vogue Beauty College of Indiana and was very proud of obtaining her Beautician license.  Ilene worked as a film processor at the Buchanan Photo Hut and more recently worked in the Photo Department and Greeting at Wal-Mart in Niles, MI before her retirement.  Most importantly was her role as a wife and mother.  She was very proud of her family.  On May 21, 1977 Ilene married Larry Osborn of Buchanan, MI, formerly of Culver, Indiana.  They resided in Buchanan where they raised their family.  They are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Niles, MI.  Ilene volunteered her time serving The Church in many ways, including recently hand-sewing quilts for US Service members.  Ilene enjoyed writing poetry and songs, reading, drawing, painting, antiquing, gardening, coin collecting, baking, cooking, geneology, and in younger years she loved playing tennis and bike riding.  She showed her love by cooking and baking her family’s favorite dishes and was known for her delicious pies!  Over her lifetime, she had many beloved pets and is survived by her dog Maggie and cat Annie.  She was preceded in death by her father, Bertram Chambers, mother, Beatrice (Gardner) Chambers, brothers Edgar Paul Chambers, and Michael Chambers.  She is survived by her sister Jeanie Weisinger of South Bend, her husband Larry of 38 years, daughters Kimberley (Gregory) Gaipa of Benton Harbor, MI, Ruth Osborn of Ahoskie, NC, and Tara (David) Richardson of Kalamazoo, MI,  step-daughters Lisa (Charles) Adkins of Germantown, Ohio and Gina (Bret) Burson of Vandalia, Ohio, step-sons Richard (Coreen) Osborn of Three Rivers, MI and Brandon Osborn of Ypsilanti, MI, 16 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 1409 Niles-Buchanan Road, Niles, MI 49120Wednesday, December 30th, 2015 at 1:00pm, followed by the Funeral Service officiated by Bishop Lynn Ferris at 2:00pm.   In lieu of flowers, contributions or other donations can be made to help the family with funeral expenses.
