Terry K. Metzger

Terry K. Metzger, 74, of Buchanan, Michigan, passed away, Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. Terry is survived by his mother Ruth Metzger of Buchanan; his wife, Vicki, daughter  Julie (Steve) Georgeoff of Niles, Michigan; son Jeffrey (Kelly) Metzger of Elkhart, Indiana; four grandchildren, Alicia Cuzzocrea, Sophia, Spencer and Nikolas Georgeoff; sister, Vicki (Eric) Miller of Nashville, Tennessee; brothers, Thomas (Sue) Metzger of Tigard, Oregon and Michael (Terri) Metzger of Grand Haven, Michigan.  He was preceded in death by his father Victor Metzger Jr. in 1993.       Terry was born June 9, 1941 in Buchanan, Michigan to Victor & Ruth (Barker) Metzger Jr.  He graduated from Buchanan High School in 1959 and continued to attend home games there. Terry enlisted into the United States Army in 1963 and proudly served his country for two years. On July 16, 1966, he married the former Vicki Bueghly in Sawyer, Michigan.  Terry retired from Clark Equipment Co. after thirty years and Bosch Manufacturing after fifteen years of employment. He was a member of the Buchanan American Legion Post 51. Terry was an avid University of Michigan sports fan, along with all of the Detroit professional sports teams.  He believed in being physically active, maintaining a membership in the local YMCA.  Terry had great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He never missed a sports event or dance recital. He played all kinds of games with them and loved cuddling on the couch and going to the beach with them.  He was a loving and present grandfather and father.  Terry made us all laugh a lot and was quick with a joke. His great smile and warm hugs will be greatly missed.   All the wonderful memories he made with his family will last a lifetime. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 P.M. Noon Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Buchanan Christian Church, 112 W 3rd St, Buchanan, MI 49107 with Pastor Nate Babcock officiating. Private burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan on Monday.  Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 until the time of the service at the church.  Memorial donations may be made to Buchanan Christian Church.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel in Buchanan, MI.
