Anthony's Obituary

On August 28, 2015 Anthony J. Donaldson was called from this life to a greater world, at his home in Michigan City, Indiana after a lengthy illness. Services Celebrating his life will be at  1:00 P.M. Wednesday September 2nd at Bethel  Apostolic Tabernacle Church Chippewa St. Buchanan, Michigan  friends may call one hour prior to the service. Anthony J. Donaldson was born on February 23, 1940 in Trinidad, Colorado to Oscar and Edna (George) Donaldson. Anthony honorably served nine years in three services, U.S. Marines, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Army. He served five tours in Vietnam, three times in the U.S. Marines, and two times in the U.S. Army – Special Forces. He was wounded in the fifth tour of duty. Mr. Donaldson served his community as a police officer after returning home from the war. He eventually moved to Michigan City, IN and worked for the Water Dept of Public Works until retirement. He met and married Brenda J. Robinson on July 2, 1977 at Bethel Apostolic Tabernacle in Buchanan, Michigan. They had just celebrated their thirty-eighth anniversary this past July. He loved to fish, fly his Ultra Lite, ride his mo-ped, and watch many sunsets on the lake with his bride. They also enjoyed bird watching together. Anthony kept the nieces and nephews entertained with his many hobby toys (rides in the Ultra Lite, a cart he made by hand that his dog Bear pulled them on, flying radio controlled helicopters and drones etc.). He belonged to the Midwest Sundowners R/C Flying Club. His church membership was at Bethel Apostolic Tabernacle in Buchanan, MI. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna (George) Donaldson in 1986; father, Oscar Donaldson in 1995; brother Donald Donaldson in 1997; also aunt’s Rose, Mary & Lena George. Survived by his loving wife, Brenda J. (Robinson) Donaldson of Michigan City, IN, sisters, Sonja Donaldson of Trinidad, CO,  Sharon Donaldson-Britain (Craig) of Colorado Springs, CO, Victoria (Donaldson) Wagoner of Baker, MT, and Gail (Donaldson) Brown (Lonnie) of Phoenix, AZ along with numerous nieces and nephews.
