Brian's Obituary

Brian D. Cuyler, age 29, of Mishawaka died Monday, July 11, 2016 at home. Brian was born August 19, 1986 in Killeen, TX to Randy Cuyler and Carol Lynn Hackett. After graduation from Buchanan High school, Brian joined the service, proudly serving 7 years in the U.S. Army as a member of the Military Police, including two tours in Iraq. Brian returned home and married the love of his life, Lauran Patricia Pesak, on September 8, 2015 in South Bend. Brian was devoted to his family and friends and will always be remembered as the life of the party, being quick with a joke and his infectious laugh. He enjoyed shooting and online video gaming. Always good with his hands, Brian liked to build things, especially if it involved customizing cars or working on audio systems. Believing in the importance of service, Brian was also a member of several local organizations including American Legion Post #357 of South Bend, Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CMVA) Chapter 14-2A of South Bend; Army Riders of South Bend, and Masonic Lodge #68 of Buchannan, MI. Brian is survived by his father Randy (Kim) Cuyler of Buchanan, MI; mother Carol Lynn  Trout of Hepzibah, GA; wife Lauren of Mishawaka; daughter Milah Renee Patricia Cuyler of Mishawaka; and siblings Mary Salter of North Augusta, SC; Richelle Dearborn of Elizabethtown, KY; and Christopher and Alexander Hackett, both of Hephzibah, GA. A graveside service, with Military Honors being presented by U. S. Army honor Guard from Fort Custer, MI, will be held on Saturday, July 16 at 10:30 A.M. at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Cramer of New Life Church, Osceola, IN, of which Brian was a member. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, July 15 from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan, MI 49107. Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #357 (Brian D. Cuyler Memorial), Attn: Finance Committee, 5414 West Sample St., South Bend, IN 46619. Following the graveside service a time of celebration and remembrance will be held at American Legion Post #303, 2503 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel.
