Anna's Obituary

Anna Mae (Heiney) Post, a lifetime Buchanan, Michigan resident, passed away in St. Joseph, Michigan on Saturday December 31, 2016 at the age of 91. Mrs. Post is predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years, Richard Paul Post as well as her father, Donald Heiney, mother, Lola Smith Heiney and brother Mark Heiney. She is lovingly remembered by children Carolyn Lamb, of Aurora Colorado, Kathleen Mehl, of Southgate, Michigan, Rachele (Richard) Dugger, of Granger, Indiana, and Douglas (Chris) Post, of Gig Harbor, Washington as well as 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Anna Mae was survived by her brother, Robert Heiney of Grand Rapids, MI. Anna Mae was born in Huntington, IN on December 16, 1925. She graduated from Buchanan High School in 1943. Upon graduation, she was employed by Clark Equipment Company until leaving at the birth of her first child. Mrs. Post was a life time member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and active with the Altar and Rosary Society. Community involvement included being a past officer with the Buchanan Child Study Club, previous member of the board of directors and driver for the Niles Buchanan Meals on Wheels. She was involved in various capacities for 20 years with the Girl Scouts of America included being a troop leader, Chairman of the Buchanan Neighborhood council and on the Board of Directors for the Singing Sands council Anna Mae’s passions were needlecraft, painting, golf and traveling, as well as spending time with her family. The visitation will be held at Swem Chapel, 301 West Front Street, Buchanan, Michigan on Thursday January 5th from 4-8 P.M. The funeral Mass celebrating her life will be offered on Friday January 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev.Fr. Richard L. Altine officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the Baruch Senior Ministries 3196 Kraft Ave. SE Suite 203, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49512 or Niles -Buchanan Meals on Wheels 31 N.
