Charles E. Pate

Charles E. Pate, 83, of Niles, formerly of Buchanan, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at his home. A time of visitation will be held from 2-5 PM on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Swem Chapel and Cremation Services Buchanan. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 27, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Buchanan with Pastor Daniel Barz officiating.  An interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 212 W. Front St., Buchanan, MI.  Those wishing to leave condolences online may do so at www.swemchapel.com. Charles was born on July 7, 1933 to the late Fay and Ethel Pate in Vilonia, Arkansas. He graduated from Buchanan High School. After graduation he was drafted and served in the United States Army.  Charles worked as a machinist for Clark, AM General and Bendix where he retired.  He was a long time member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and had just returned from living in Colorado a little over a year ago.  Charles enjoyed working on computers, playing computer games and loved golfing. Charles is survived by his son, Steven Pate of Niles and sisters, Wanda Young, Sue Bowker and Latricia Lidey. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Pate.
