Francena Mae Ferris

Francena Mae Ferris, 90, of Buchanan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Woodland Terrace, Niles. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Swem Chapel and Cremation Services, Buchanan with Pastor Nathan Babcock officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Buchanan Christian Church, 112 W. 3rd St., Buchanan, MI. Online condolences may be shared at www.swemchapel.com Francena was born on January 21, 1927 to the late Robert and Cora (Poland) Luster in Lawrenceville, IL. She graduated from Buchanan High School, and went on to marry Raymond Ferris on October 11, 1947, in Buchanan. Francena worked several years at Electro-Voice in Buchanan where she retired. She was a lifelong devoted member at Buchanan Christian Church. Francena enjoyed decorating eggs and cakes. She also liked antique shows, traveling, camping, and exotic animals, she was famous in Buchanan for her “Big Birds” and pet deer. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Raymond; children, Larry (Jane) Ferris, Lynn (Karla) Ferris, Ginger (William) Spence; grandchildren, Danielle (Douglas) Burgoyne, Tabitha (Nate) Zolman, Kevin Spence, Shannon Spence, Diane Ferris, Heather Ludwig, Larry (Melissa) Ferris, Jeremy (Genesia) Ferris, Natalie Ferris, Kirsten (William) Zalas, Auston (Poloma) Ferris, David (Amanda) Ferris, Jacob Ferris, Tom Ferris, and Jarrod Ferris, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and sisters, Roberta (Leslie) Frost and Mary Godsey. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Francis Luster, Orris Luster, Morris Luster and Bessie Adams.
