Kenneth's Obituary

Kenneth A. Bodtke, age 79, passed away suddenly on October 2nd, 2017, in his Buchanan home. He was born March 4th, 1938 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to mother Ruth (Seelig) Bodtke, and father Lester Bodtke, who preceded him in death. He married Jewel D. (Coffman) Bodtke on August 23rd, 1957 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, who also preceded him in death on October 1st, 2013. He is survived by his sister Janice Jewell of Stevensville, Michigan; twin sister Carole Redman of St. Cloud, Florida; son Keith Bodtke of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughters Joyce (Michael) Eddy of Niles, Michigan; and Sheryl (Bodtke) Russell of Grand Rapids, Michigan; eight grandchildren; Krysta Musgrave, Nicole Musgrave, Tyler Russell, Joshua Eddy, Jonathon Eddy, Kenny Bodtke, Jessica Long, and Melissa Bodtke; and four great grandchildren. He was a vending machine technician for Schneider Vending (Buchanan) who was later bought out by Canteen Food Service (South Bend, Indiana) for more than thirty years, and in his retirement he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Bend Of the River Club and AARP. His greatest joy was his friends and family, and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. A celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday Oct. 11 at 10:30 a.m. At Swem Chapel in Buchanan where friends may begin calling one hour prior to the service.
