Mary's Obituary

Mary M. Stone, age 79 of Valparaiso, IN passed away on Friday, April 6, 2018. She was born on February 4, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Louis and Catherine (Briski) Zerial. She is survived by her children, John (Vicky) Stone, Carol (John) Mondschein, Dave (Jackie) Stone, Sherry (Dave) Zubeck, Bill (Marcie) Stone and Ron “Red” (Rachel) Stone; brother, John (Joan) Zerial; grandchildren, Jermaine, Karla (Fabien), Marcela, Javier, Johnny, Jonathon (Whitney), Taylor, Courtney, Bree, Jake, Zack, Stone, Paris, Reese, Kayla, Chelsey, Shelby, Madison, Alexis, Ronnie and Elle and great grandchildren, Yandel, Aubrey and Diego; and god daughter, Jacklynn. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 54 years, Ronald Stone; and brother, Pete Zerial. One of Mary’s most enduring qualities was her thoughtfulness. Above all, she loved her family to the moon and back and now heaven and back. She never worked outside the home. She truly dedicated her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed her grandkids and had a big candy drawer with all their favorites which made them smile. She especially loved remembering her family by sending cards for all their special occasions. She also saved every card her family sent to her because they were too special to throw away. Recently, she spent hours sorting them so they could be given back to each family. She loved watching TV and her Blackhawks and enjoyed talking on the phone with her brother. She loved to keep her landscaping in pristine condition and was often seen by her neighbors on a ladder with clippers (something she should not have been doing!). Mary loved to shop spending hours at Marshalls. Just last week, the cashier told her she should work there. She was always dressed to a tee and looked so stylish. She loved her burgundy lipstick and big earrings… She was the Queen of bling. Her favorite place to go to lunch was Chili’s, and she enjoyed the quesadilla explosion salad. She was a regular and loved Tracy, Amanda, and Dwayne that worked there. She had many doctors’ appointments, and she appreciated Dr. Lin. Dr. Domingo, and Trina for being so sweet and taking such good care of her. She was the best Mom and Grandma in the world to us, and there really aren’t enough words to describe the love she gave and we have for her. A friend recently described her as having a light around her. Now, we are certain that she shines brightly in heaven. Private services and interment will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan, MI. Those wishing to sign Mary’s guest book online may do so at www.swemchapel.com
