Richard D. Homan

Richard “Rick” D. Homan, 58, of Niles, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. A celebration of life will take place at 2 PM on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Portage Road General Baptist Church, 1765 Portage Rd., Niles, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with future expenses. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan, MI. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com. Rick was born on August 17, 1960, to Raymond Miller and Willodean Homan-Miller in Niles. He loved racing at an early age. Around the age of ten he organized a race track and group of kids around the area to race their bikes. Most recently he enjoyed racing at South Bend Motor Speedway where he was last years Track Champion. Rick also enjoyed singing karaoke and most of all, being with his loved ones. Holidays and weekends were his favorite, he would get to spend all his free time with his grandchildren and spoil them rotten. Rick is survived by his children, Ricole (Zakary) Haas; Steven Poff, Brittany (Justin) Smith and Jill Wilson; aunt & uncle who raised him, Gary and Barbara Reed; siblings, Lisa (Brian) Wagner, Angela Wiggins, Gary (Cerita) Reed, Shelley (Robert) Marker and Allen Reed; grandchildren, Brookelynn Haas, Zakary Haas, Jr., Braiden Poff, Brinley Poff, Kaiden Smith, Colt Smith, Dalyss Smith; many nephews and “number one” nieces and brother at heart, William Draper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Miller and Willodean Homan-Miller; grandparents, Charles and Willie Kyles and grandson, Briar Poff.
