Margaret Louise McKinney, 89, of Dowagiac passed away on June 30, 2018 at The Timbers in Dowagiac, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel – 405 Center St., Dowagiac, MI. Private committal services will be held with her final resting place being at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place on Tuesday, July 10, 3:00 PM, at the Moose Lodge #933 in Dowagiac. Margaret was born on March 12, 1929 in Troy, Alabama to the late Thomas and Idell (Head) Craft. Margaret is survived by her sons – James (Georgia) Hargett of Redding, MI of Dowagiac and Gerald Hargett, Jr. of Eau Claire, MI; grandchildren – Jessica and Seth; and siblings – Helion Motes and Sarnell Pittman both of Troy, AL. She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband – Gerald Hargett, Sr., her second husband – Vern McKinney, and her siblings – Vernon Craft, Robert Craft and Vera Doorman. Margaret was a life-long member of the Dowagiac Moose Lodge #933 and the Dowagiac Eagles #2441. She was an avid Alabama sports fan and enjoyed cooking. Margaret worked in several Dowagiac offices – Dowagiac Mutual Insurance Company, Sears and John Scoot Insurance Agency. Most of all Margaret loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed.
