Clyde's Obituary
Clyde B. Kidd Jr, 85, of Dowagiac, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac, MI.
Clyde was born on January 3, 1930 in Detroit, MI to Clyde and Olive (Thompson) Kidd, Sr. He married the former Verda I. McClanahan on June 6, 1951. They celebrated 64 years of marriage this year. Clyde was a proud Marine, serving as a tank commander in the Korean War Conflict. He was given battle field commission of Staff Sergeant during the battle at Chosin Reservoir. Clyde was a 4th generation brick mason, member of the Brick Mason’s Union Local 4, Chapter 18 in South Bend, Indiana. Clyde was proud of his 50 year gold card. He taught his sons well, instructing them to follow in his foot-steps and become masons. Clyde always told his sons, “Let’s make it rain boys, or we won’t get any hours in this week.” You never knew if it is going to be inclement weather or not. This was long before I-phones were available to check the weather. Clyde enjoyed watching football & Gunsmoke and planting his garden every year. He was very astute with his finances and protecting his one true love, Verda. Clyde was ever so loyal and devoted to his wife, family, job, home and to his country. Clyde was a good husband, father and mentor. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Verda; his two sons, Wayne (Jody) Kidd of Venice, FL and Daniel (Joyce Anne) Kidd of Granger, IN; his daughter, Susan (Tim) True of Dowagiac, MI; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Carolyn McClanahan and his daughter, Sharon Kidd.
Once a Marine, always a Marine. We salute you Dad.
