Martha's Obituary

Martha L. DeShazo, 83, of Hampstead, Maryland, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 P.M. Noon Thursday, February 25 at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac.  Private burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.  Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 until Noon Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan.  Those wishing to sign Martha’s Memory Book online may do so at www.clarkchapel.com.   Martha was born September 11, 1932 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to George & Pauline (Smith) Bobos.  On March 1, 1950, she married James M. DeShazo in Chattanooga.  Martha owned and operated The Marshall Shoppe in downtown Dowagiac for 18 years, when in 1991 she sold to her daughter Susan.  Martha enjoyed golf, playing cards, cooking and the time spent with her family and friends.  Martha is survived by three daughters-Terry (Steve) DeShazo-Hilliard of Cassopolis, Brenda (Jim) Boudreau of Hampstead, MD, Susan Kazlauskas of Dowagiac;  six grandchildren-Adam & Jacob Bushong, Hannah & Chloe Boudreau, James (Mindie) Kazlauskas, Laura (Marc) Messina; four great-grandchildren-Mason & Hunter Bushong,  Josie Kazlauskas, Marla Messina; & numerous nieces & nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jim on May 19, 1995, her son James M. DeShazo, Jr. on June 13, 1971, her great-granddaughter Maggie Sue Kazlauskas on June 11, 2011, her son-in-law Edward A. Kazlauskas on February 13, 2016, & her sister Virginia Bobos Gilham in 1995.
