Charles E. Geegan, 91, of Dowagiac, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Cass County Medical Care Facility.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church, 210 N. Front, Dowagiac with Father Kevin Covert presiding. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St, Dowagiac, MI. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. Charles was born on April 14, 1924 in Melvin, IL to Michael W. & Myrtle (Foreman) Geegan. On March 8, 1943 Charles was inducted into the United States Army and proudly served his country during World War II. He married the former Margaret H. Luthringer at the Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church on January 22, 1948. Charles was employed as a salesman for Frito Lay Corp. until his retirement. He was a long time member of the Dowagiac VFW Post 1855 and a dedicated member of the Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church. Charles enjoyed wintering in Florida and calling Bingo. Charles knew everyone in town and was loved by many.
Charles is survived by his daughter, Mary Geegan Middleton of Dowagiac, MI; three sons, David (Nancy) Geegan of Niles, John (Laura) Geegan and Tim (Pam) Geegan, both of Bowling Green, KY; a son-in-law Nolan Kaiser of Mt. Pleasant, MI; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a brother Eugene Geegan of Three Rivers; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret on October 27, 2014, daughter Terrie (Geegan) Kaiser; grandson, Timothy Middleton; sisters Rosemary Kurtenbach, Margaret Ann Pucheloff, Fannie Fruedenburg and Ada Kurtenbach.
