Gregory Delano Easley died May 20, 2016 at Our Island Home in Nantucket, Massachusetts, after a lengthy illness. He was 64.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Conner-Mayo AME Church, 505 Front St., Dowagiac. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the charity of your choice. The youngest child of Moses L. Easley, Jr. and Viola B. Easley, Greg was born and grew up in Dowagiac, Michigan. After graduating from Dowagiac Union High School, where he was a member of the track team, he attended Southwestern Michigan College. For many years Greg was employed by pharmaceutical manufacturer Miles Laboratories in Elkhart, Indiana, which was later acquired by the German company Bayer. For many years he was a resident of Santa Rosa, California, until December 2014 when Greg moved to Nantucket, to live his last years near his brother, Moses L. Easley, III.
Charismatic and fun-loving, Greg was a talented raconteur. He made friends easily and maintained strong friendships throughout his life with a wide variety of people. Greg was an accomplished pianist who could play any kind of music once he heard it. Growing up he played piano and organ for Pentecostal, Methodist and Baptist churches and, along with his mother, performed piano duets on a local radio program in southwestern Michigan.
Greg is survived by his brother, Moses L. (Mary Anne) Easley, III of Nantucket; sister, Marletta B. Seats of Benton Harbor, Michigan; nephews, Marlon Easley and Duane Seats of Benton Harbor; many relatives and friends across the country.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James.
