Marilyn's Obituary

Marilyn H. Pitcher, 87, of Sister Lakes, passed away quietly in her home surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Her family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac, MI, with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 51841 Leach Road, Dowagiac, MI 49047 with Father Kevin Covert presiding. She will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to Hospice at Home. Born in Chicago, IL, on September 4, 1928, Marilyn was the daughter of Konred and Marie (McVady) Secrest. On April 10, 1948, Marilyn married John “Jack” Pitcher in Chicago, IL, who preceded her in death in 2011 after 63 years of marriage.  Marilyn was a devoted mom who enjoyed her family. She was also an active member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church for over 30 years. Marilyn was a volunteer with the Council on Aging and delivered Meals on Wheels with her husband, Jack, for over 16 years and the Nature Conservancy, Collier County in Naples, FL. She also enjoyed fishing and their trips to Florida for the winters. Marilyn is survived by two sons John (Paula) Pitcher of Lowell, MA and Patrick (Kathryn) Pitcher of Sister Lakes; daughter, JoAnne Pitcher of Sister Lakes. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Aaron, John T., Joseph (Tara), Lawrence (Kate), Rachel Pitcher, Caitlin (Cameron) Coburn, Bob Beaird, and Allison (Kenneth) Chann Jr., as well as great grandchildren Ashton, Chase and Beau and many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank the caregivers of Marilyn for all their care and support Judy Tarantino, Pat Hines, Lisa Kemp and Suzi Wiltse. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jack, one son, Michael, grandson Daniel August, and sister Lorraine Sullivan.
