Geraldine Smith

Geraldine Smith, 82, of Dowagiac, MI., passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00 P.M., Friday, July 8, 2016 at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac, MI., with Pastor Stacey Wilder officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Those wishing to share a memory of Geraldine online may do so at www.clarkch.com  Geraldine was born June 6, 1934 in Walnut Ridge, AR., to Carl & Nina (Chronister) Wilson. On December 23, 1956 she married Garland Smith in Hernando, Mississippi. Geraldine worked for Bell Telephone as a telephone operator in Arkansas and Kalamazoo during the 1950’s. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, golfing and most of all she loved spending time with her family.  Geraldine is survived by her husband Garland Smith of Dowagiac; son Rodger (Debbie) Smith of Cassopolis, MI; daughter Donna (Steve) Bourne of Paw Paw, MI; four grandchildren Ashley (Richard) Kirkpatrick of Granger, IN, Matthew Smith of Cassopolis, MI, Brittany and Marissa Bourne of Paw Paw; great grandson Logan Kirkpatrick;  two brothers Alvin (Annie) Wilson of West Plaines, MO, and Jerry (Barbara) Wilson of St. Louis, MO; special niece Dot Russell as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins; Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Helen Honeycutt, Ruth Alice Taraschke, Rovena Thornley and Oleta Warner and brother Carl Wilson.
