Helen Marie Head

Helen Marie Head, 85, of Dowagiac, MI died Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at her residence. A memorial service will take place at Liberty Chapel 309 Dewey St., Dowagiac on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 12 noon. A reception will follow at the Dowagiac Lions Club. A daughter of the late Raymond Mead and Dolly Pearl Edmunds Mead, she was born in Cassopolis and was a lifelong resident of Cass County. Before retiring more than 30 years ago, she had worked at Consolidated Die-Cast/ Concealed Powers. She was well known and respected for her “open door policy,” assisting anyone who came to her for help, as long as they followed her rules. She was affectionately known as “Mom” and “Grandma” by countless people who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two children, Donna Nash and Donald D. Ferrier, Jr.and she was the last of nine siblings. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Waterson, Dowagiac and a son, Ray Ferrier, Dowagiac. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
