Dorothy E. Sifford

Dorothy E. Sifford, 91, of Dowagiac, MI, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016  from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Those wishing to share a memory of Dorothy online may do so at www.clarkch.com.  Dorothy was born November 1, 1924 in Dowagiac, MI to John and Emma (Messenger) Ihnken.  She graduated from Dowagiac Central High School in 1942. Dorothy married the love of her life, Richard, on August, 9, 1943 in South Bend, IN. They had celebrated 68 years of marriage before his passing in 2011. She worked for fifteen years as a secretary for the Dowagiac school system and for fifteen years at Du-Wel Manufacturing. Dorothy loved spending time with her friends, whether it was drinking coffee as part of the original McDonalds coffee group or playing cards.  She loved her family and was a great mom and grandmother.  Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Karyl Sifford of Dowagiac; granddaughters, Shannon Best of Culver, IN and Sharese (Todd) Franklin of Dowagiac; great- grandchildren, Rebecca Franklin and Enrico Povinelli. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard.
