Roger L. Buck, Sr., 74, of Dowagiac, MI, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living in South Bend.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Friday, February 24, 2017 at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Pastor Bryant Bacon officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles. A gathering of friends and family will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. Roger was born on March 15, 1942 at home in Jones, MI to James and Olive (Wright) Buck. He graduated from Centreville High School in 1962. Roger served in the Army from 1963 to 1965. On August 13, 1966 he married the love of his life, the former Charon Curry in Dowagiac, MI. Roger was known as a hard worker, and a caring family man, there was nothing he wouldn’t do to make sure his family was taken care of. He was known as “Buck” to everyone he came in contact with. Roger was proud of the time he served his county as a paratrooper in the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, most of all with his grandchildren. Roger also cherished going out to dinner and sharing his past experiences and knowledge with his family.
Roger is survived by his children, Brenda L. (Robert Adams) Buck of South Bend, Roger (Irene) Buck of Baltimore, MD, Craig L. Buck of Atlanta, GA, and Denise Mitchell of South Haven; grandchildren, Roger Buck III, Sommer Hardy, Kennedy Hardy, Laila Buck-Adams, Evan Buck and JaVone Mitchell; one great-grandchild, Dakota Buck; a sister, Marcile Williams of Cassopolis; brothers, Charles (Pat) Buck of Vandalia and Richard Buck of Niles.
Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, siblings, Otto Buck, Dorothy Haines, Frank Buck, Barbara Wilson, Larry Buck, Paul Buck, Clara Flemming and Ronald Buck.
