Phyllis J Parmley

Phyllis J. Parmley, 67, of Dowagiac, MI, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac with her son-in-law Keith Parritt officiating.   Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home and again on Thursday from 10:00 A.M until the time of the service.  Memorial donations may be made to the Lakeland Hospice at Home.  Those wishing to sign Phyllis’s Memory Book online may do so at www.clarkch.com. Phyllis was born June 28, 1949 in Benton Harbor to Paul and Ida May (O’Neil) Johnson. On July 13, 1991 she married Brian Parmley in Dowagiac. Phyllis enjoyed being in the great outdoors whether it was riding motorcycles or a road trip vacation to see the covered bridges.  Phyllis’s greatest love was her family and her dog Boomer. Phyllis is survived by her mother, Ida May Campbell; husband Brian; children, Glenn Allen Justus of Montana, Julie (David) Shimel of Eau Claire and Jodi Poenicke of South Carolina; son-in-law, Darryl Reed of Decatur; step-daughters, Tracy (Rocky) Mengel of Dowagiac, Carrie (Keith) Parritt of Dowagiac and Gail (Don) Pederson of Edwardsburg; grandchildren, Cara Dollins, Becky Dollins, Brandon Justus, Nathien Richter, Rodney Bailey III, Heather Morse, Brian Groth, Alyssa Groth, Nicholas Groth, Jason Groth, Brittany Parritt, Brooke Parritt, Zachary Johnson, Benjamin Parritt, Elizabeth Pederson and Jenna Pederson; several great-grandchildren; siblings, James “Eddie” (Virginia) Johnson, Linda (Rex) VanSandt, Densel (Lynn) Johnson, Diane (Ellis) Fry, Sharon (Jim) Sands, Pam Menzie, Jack (Tanya) Johnson, Lisa Wiscaver and Floyd Johnson, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis is preceded in death by her father, Paul Johnson, her first husband, Aubrey Glenn Justus; daughter, Jeannie Reed; brothers, David, Ronnie, Bruce and Mark Johnson.
