Gerald Charles “Red” Brezen, 90, of Dowagiac, MI, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.  A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31 at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St. Dowagiac, MI.  Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service.  Memorials in his honor may be made to American Heart Association or American Cancer Service.  Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.clarkch.com. Red was born in Brookfield, IL on September 22, 1926 to Charles and Agnes (Dostal) Brezen. He proudly served in the Marine Corps in both WWII and the Korean War before being honorably discharged in 1951.  On February 28, 1952 he married Loreen, who preceded him in death in 1998.  Red worked as a machinist for Jessup Door and Ameriwood. An avid outdoorsman and sportsman, Red enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, bowling and baseball. He belonged to the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, American Legion and VFW.  He played baseball for the Dowagiac Merchants, The Marine Corps Team and even the Chicago White Sox. Red is survived by his son, Charles (Julie) Brezen; grandchildren, Becky and Trevor; sister Betty (Kent) Robinson and several nieces and nephews.
