Wilma M. Fisher Gaideski Walshleger, 101, of Dowagiac, MI passed away on April 8, 2017 at Forest Glen Assisted Living in Dowagiac.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Pastor Phillip Haner officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Wilma was born on January 7, 1916 to Franklin and Myrtle (Crippin) Fisher in Silver Creek Township, MI. On June 25, 1932 she married Phillip Gaideski in Niles, MI. They had celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in 1982. Wilma married a second time to Warren Walshleger on July 7, 1990. She enjoyed 20 years of traveling and seeing the world with Warren before his passing in 2011. Wilma worked for many years as a sales clerk and seamstress at the Marshall Shoppe in Dowagiac. She kept a detailed journal of her daily adventures. Wilma enjoyed watching the animals of nature’s great outdoors. She was a past member of the Antlerettes of Dowagiac Elks Lodge, the Junior Arts Club and the Women’s Fellowship of the Dowagiac Federated Church. Wilma loved her family and will be greatly missed.
Wilma is survived by her sons, Joseph (Elsie) Gaideski of Brooksville, FL and Terry (Karen) Gaideski of MO; daughter, Bonnie Jacobs of Niles; fourteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husbands, Phillip and Warren; a son, Edward Gaideski; son-in-law, Edwin Jacobs ; daughter-in-law, Joan Gaideski; and a grandson, Ronald Jacobs.
