Carl Mosier Ball

Carl Mosier Ball, 64, of Dowagiac, MI, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at his home following a short illness. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. A private burial will take place at a later date. Carl was born in Dowagiac, MI on June 8, 1952 to Carson A. and Mary (Mosier) Ball. He graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1970.  He married Janet “Jan” Stover-Jerue on August 11, 1984 in Dowagiac.  He was the owner of Cass County Crane for fifteen years and had retired in 2014. Carl was a diehard University of Michigan fan and an avid collector of Farmall Tractors. He knew everything there was to know about collecting, repairing and restoring Farmall Tractors. Most of all he loved his family and spending time in his barn. He will be missed by all who knew him. Surviving Carl are his wife Janet “Jan”; children, Amy (Ron) Ball- Conery of Channing, MI, Stephanie (Jim) Jerue-Elder of Dowagiac, MI Andrea (Jake Smith) Ball- Smiltneek of Aurora, WI and Joe (Kelly) Jerue of Decatur, MI; grandchildren, Ryan (Hannah) Smiltneek of Marquette, MI Katie Smiltneek of Channing, MI, Mikaela Jerue of Kalamazoo, MI and Marshall (Serena) Elder of Benton Harbor, MI; siblings, Jane Keller of Dowagiac, MI Scott (Kim) Ball of Spring Lake, MI, Martha (Dale) Allen of St. Johns, MI, Joan Sieber of Bangor, MI and Jeff (Nancy) Ball of Cassopolis, MI and many nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Katy Knopf and nephew, Joshua Ball.
