Maxine's Obituary
Maxine H. Downey, 91, of Dowagiac, passed away, Thursday, May 18, 2017, at her home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 22, 2017, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St, Dowagiac. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. Those wishing to sign Maxine’s guestbook may do so online at www.clarkch.com.
Maxine was born on March 29, 1926 in Dowagiac, MI to Floyd O. and Evelyn (Gawthrop) Stahr. She graduated from Dowagiac Central High in 1944. Maxine married John L. Downey on June 22, 1945 in Dowagiac.
Maxine is survived by her sons, Andrew (Sally) Downey of Grand Rapids and John Scott (Denise) Downey of Phoenix, AR; daughter, Marie (Gordon) Landon of Pine Ridge, FL; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; a sister, Dixie Stahr of Terre Haute, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John.
