Charles's Obituary

Charles Volgyes, 93, of Dowagiac, passed away June 20, 2017 at Forest Glen Assisted Living in Dowagiac.  A burial will take place at a later date at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to American Printing House for the Blind. Those wishing to leave a memory of Charles may do so at www.clarkch.com  Charles was born in Belleville, MI to Joseph and Mary (Bedi) Volgyes.  Charlie worked at a spring factory in Dowagiac for over 35 years. He owned his own home and you could see him walking everywhere.  He walked to the bank, post office, cleaners and Side Track to eat daily.  Dowagiac was good to him.  His passion was music, though.  Charlie could play any instrument and played the keyboard in the “Starlight” band.  He was a great inspiration.  Though he was blind, nothing stopped him.  He was always learning new things in his sharp mind.  Charlie spent the last few years at Forest Glen Assisted Living where they lovingly took care of him, and he occasionally played piano for the other residents.  Surviving Charlie are his nephews and nieces who loved and admired him; Sharon (Jerry) Eby, Carol (Ernie) Reese, Linda (Dwayne) DeRossett, Ellen (Adib) Al-awar, George (Paige) Hartman, Louise (Kevin) Waller, Barbara Hines, Mary Baum and Martin Hartman.  Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Steve (Edna) Kish and Paul (Dorothy) Volgyes; sisters Rose (Ed) Hartman and Mary Ryakso.   RIP sweet Charlie.
