Warren's Obituary

Warren “Ed” Edward Anthony, of Fort Myers, FL, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at his home. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Friday, July 28, from 1:00PM – 3:00PM at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Ed was born on August 28, 1961 in Benton Heights, MI.  His parents were Jean and the late Warren J. Anthony, Jr.  He was a graduate of Dowagiac High School, the class of 1979. Ed graduated with high honors and played in the school band.  He was a 4-H member with the North Red Hill group.  During his time in 4-H he showed horses, angora rabbits and his dog.  After high school, Ed attended Southwestern Michigan College from 1980-1984 pursing a degree in Business Administration and the medical field.  He was a member of the DEMOLAY.  He worked with the Cass County Sheriff’s Department and Howard Township Police Department.  In 1982 Ed was a paramedic, EMT specialist and director of the Dowagiac Life Ambulance and worked with SMACAS.  From 1984-1985, he worked at Memorial Hospital on the life support unit. Ed moved to Florida in 1985 with Police and Ambulance in Green Acres.  Around 1989 he moved to West Palm Beach.  It was then he attended a junior college for two years before he transferred to the University of Florida, where he received his master’s in Business Administration and the medical field.  His career made it possible for him to travel, living in Rhode Island, Texas, California and Florida. His hobbies included skiing, electronics, scuba diving and flying.  Ed had a love for cars; his favorite was his 1970 Dodge Challenger convertible which he restored. Ed is survived by his mother Jean Anthony; sister Warrene (Richard) Brimmer; nieces, Theresa Lillie, Amy Lillie, Heather Scissom; great-niece Avianna Jones and several cousins. Ed was preceded in death by his father Warren J. Anthony, Jr.; aunts, Marie Gillette, Theodora Jenvey, Elizabeth Snyder; uncles, Richard Anthony and Edward Anthony; grandparents, Hazel More and Bertha & Warren J. Anthony, Sr.
