Sarah Lizzybell Roberts

Sarah L. Roberts, 96, of Dowagiac, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017, at The Timbers of Cass Co. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Monday, November 6, 2017, at 12 PM at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Pastor Charles Engler officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Sarah was born on October 26, 1921, in Searcy, Arkansas to Orlan & Irene (Yoder) Reynolds. On September 15, 1937, Sarah married the love of her life, Vernis Roberts, in Monett, Arkansas. Together, they were happily married for 50 years before his passing in 1987. She was a proud member of Calvary Lighthouse Church which she attended for many years. Sarah also enjoyed quilting, hand stitching and gardening. Most of all, she loved her family. Sarah was a wonderful lady who will be missed by all. Sarah is survived by her children, Darrel (Lillie) Roberts of Decatur, Larry Roberts of Dowagiac, Virginia Szymanowski of Dowagiac, and Phyllis (Gary) Hendrixson of Covert; siblings, Gene (Ruth) Reynolds and Reba House; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Orlan & Irene; husband, Vernis; children, Clevy Roberts and Alice (Alfred) Gough; siblings, Limuel Reynolds, Pete Reynolds, Orlan (Sarah Ann) Reynolds, Helen (Jule) Stringfellow, Guy Reynolds and Arnette Hamilton; son-in-law, Jack Szymanowski; and brother-in-law, Dalmond House.
