Lorene Shrout

Lorene Shrout, 90, of Dowagiac, MI, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017. A Celebration of Life service will take place 11:00 AM Thursday, December 7, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center Street in Dowagiac. Burial will follow the funeral service. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Born April 4, 1927 in Monette, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Mack and Nellie (Bettis) Hobson. On November 8, 1946 Lorene married the love of her life Pete M. Shrout. Lorene loved playing Aggravation and card games with her family. She also enjoyed visiting with her customers and friends at the Busy Bee Flea Market for many years. She was a great southern lady that will be missed by her family and friends. Surviving Lorene are her husband of 71 years Pete; son Ronnie S. (Brenda) Shrout of Dowagiac; daughter Donna D. (Ronnie) Box of Hurricane Mills, TN; sister Bonnie Meurer of Jonesboro, AR; grandchildren Steve D. (Katherine) Shrout of Clarkston, MI, Jennifer E. Shrout of Milwaukee, WI, Michael J. (Cheryl) Edington of Allegan, MI and Kevin W. Edington of Lafayette, LA; and great-grandchildren Tyler and Luke Shrout and Allen and Matthew Edington. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Carl, Claude and Calvin Hobson; and sisters Ina, June, Marie and Doris.
