Mary's Obituary

Mary Anna McKeag passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Living Center East in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the age of 87. Mary was born October 4, 1930 in Chicago to Joseph and Frances (Dennis) Krammer. After that chance meeting at the Aragon Ballroom, she married her beloved, Leonard Lee McKeag, on September 16, 1950 in Chicago. While raising her 6 children, she parented and loved more than just her own with her in-home daycare. She touched so many lives. Mary enjoyed being outside, tending to her garden, making sure the bird feeders were full and feeding the fish in her pond. She loved to sit in the quiet of nature with her dog at her feet, listening to the pond waterfall. Mary was a faithful woman, attending mass each Sunday, arriving early to say her rosary, sitting in the same spot of the pew, deep in prayer. Above all, she was an amazing Mom and will be missed by all who knew her. Mary is survived by her children, Jean Mary (Raymond) Bennett, Thomas Paul McKeag, Linda Marie (Andy) Haun, Eileen Frances McKeag and James Michael (Corinne) McKeag; 9 grandchildren (Brendan, Sarah, Nick, Mike, Adam, Aric, Corinne, Aidan, Elise) and daughter-in-law Laurie McKeag. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Leonard; son Steven Lee McKeag and siblings Helen Simonik and Joseph Krammer. A private service will be held at a later date with burial taking place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Dowagiac. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cass County Animal Shelter.
