Arlene J. Wright, 75, of Cassopolis, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 6, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 326 N. Lowe Street, Dowagiac with Pastor Jodi Cartwright officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Cassopolis. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac. Arlene was born on May 15, 1942 in Dowagiac, MI to Kenneth Sr. and Gatha Marie (Thursby) Jessup. She graduated from Dowagiac Union High School in 1960. On September 30, 1961 she married the love of her life, George Thomas “Tom” Wright, who preceded her in death.
Arlene was a lover of music. She enjoyed playing the flute and was in the community band during the 1976 bi-centennial celebrations. While working for the Dowagiac Daily News in the 1960’s she authored a series on Centennial farms. She was a 4-H leader and enjoyed cooking. Arlene was known for her rolls and homemade candies.
Surviving Arlene are her children Stephen (Betsy Kephart) Wright of Cassopolis and Denise M. (Gene) Stockwell of Dowagiac; grandchildren Sarah Wright, Mary Wright, Elizabeth Stockwell, Jonathan Stockwell and Olivia Stockwell and brother-in-law Stewart Hill, sister-in-law Meriella James, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Tom and siblings Donald Eugene Jessup, Sharon Hill and Kenneth Jessup, Jr.
