Carol Wrightsman

Carol Wrightsman, 78, of Dowagiac, passed away, Saturday, May 26, 2018 at The Timbers of Cass County. A Celebration of Life Service was held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 30, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Burial followed at Franklin Cemetery in Berrien Center, Michigan. Friends visited with the family from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Carol was born February 9, 1940 in Berrien Center, Michigan to Gaylord & Helen (Brown) Murphy. She graduated from Dowagiac Union High School, Class of 1958 and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana in 1962. Later she earned her Master’s Degree for Indiana University. Carol taught school for 30 plus years at Kokomo Public School in Kokomo, Indiana. Upon retirement, she moved back to Dowagiac and taught as a substitute for two years. Carol enjoyed the time spent with her family, collecting dolls, and her many feline companions over the years. Carol is survived by her sister Faith Murphy of Dowagiac; nieces & nephews-Emily Hunter, Dan (Nancy Scaccia) Britton, both of Dowagiac, Laura Squires, David Thomas both of Avondale, AZ, Tina Patterson of Mississippi, & Clarise Murphy of Dowagiac. She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings-Jeanette Britton, Paul Murphy, & Julia Thomas.
