Penelope's Obituary

Penelope “Penny” Gunyan, 71, of Dowagiac, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at her home. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 2:00P.M. at Penny’s home by the pool. Memorial contributions in Penny’s name may be made to the Cass County Animal Shelter. Those wishing to leave a condolence online may do so at www.clarkch.com.  Penny was born on September 2, 1946 in Battle Creek to Paul Taylor and Winnifred Josephine (Bamford) Gunyan. She graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1964 and went on to earn her Associates Degree in Business Management from Ferris State. Penny worked in Human Recourses at Inverness Casting Group “Du-Wel” for 20 years then went on to work as an Administrative Assistant at Southwestern Community College for over 20 years before retirement. She loved sitting on her deck and by her pool enjoying nature and where she could often be found enjoying a Manhattan. Penny enjoyed visiting the casinos, especially her yearly trip to Las Vegas with her friends Jeannie and Helen. Most of all she loved her family, who all referred to her as their matriarch. Penny is survived by her sister, Deb (Bruce) Gunyan Larock; nieces and nephews, Terrence (Stacy) Vos, Christine (Tom) Ewell, Paul (Tina) Vos, Jennifer (Ray) Benefield, Erich Gebhard, Dawn Gebhard and many extended nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews and beloved dog Blondie and cat Arnie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Winnifred; sister Susan McIntyre and brother-in-law Robert McIntyre.
