David K. Gillesby

David K. Gillesby, Jr., 55, of Dowagiac, passed away, Sunday, July 22, 2018 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital in Warren, MI. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Friday, July 27, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Karla Smothers officiating. Burial will follow at Keeler Cemetery in Keeler Township. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 A.M until 12:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials in David’s name may be made to the family in care of his son, David Gillesby. David was born on April 24, 1963 in Dowagiac to David and Mary (Toy) Gillesby, Sr. He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator until he became ill and wheelchair bound, that never stopped him from being a jokester and he always had a smile on his face. Most of all he loved hanging out with his family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him. David is survived by his children David (Emily) Gillesby, Megan (Patrick) Cowgill and Holly (Alanzo Gasca) Gillesby; grandchildren, Antonio Gasca, Jackson Gillesby, Ava Gillesby and Raven Cowgill; mother, Mary Gillesby; siblings Deborah (Luke) Goodman and Todd Gillesby and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
