Ruby's Obituary

Ruby Marie Moore, 87, of Dowagiac, passed away at home on Monday July 30, 2018. Ruby was born on August 27, 1930 in Dowagiac Michigan to Michael and Edith (Sibley) Krager. She was the oldest of eleven children. Ruby worked many different jobs over the years. She drove school bus for Dowagiac Schools for a period of time. She was co-owner of Drake’s Little Super for a period of time to name just a couple. By far though her most meaningful job was that of a homemaker.  Ruby enjoyed baking for her friends and family. She was famous by those that knew her for her eggless, milk-less and butter-less cake. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting as well. She always had a project she was working on. Ruby loved a good card game and always enjoyed meeting friends and family down at Mr. Wahoo’s for a meal. Ruby was a member of the Dowagiac Moose Lodge for over 23 years.  Ruby was truly loved and will be dearly missed. Ruby is survived by her children Richard Drake, Vickie (Ray) Roden, Cheryl Nusbaum; grandchildren Kelly (Sean) Mahon, Thom (Carrie) Colley, Angee (Todd) First, April (Matt) Resanovich, Amanda Knight, Chasadena (Jeff) Yakim, Terry Burnett, Jr., Dayna Drake, and Toni Allen; 17 great-grandchildren with two more on the way and four great-great-grandchildren. Ruby is also survived by her siblings Mable Hartman, Barbara Morgan, Rose (Robert) Eggleston, Michael (Sally) Krager, Linda (Ed) Palmer, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Ruby was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Edith; siblings Loretta Koch, Nancy Kelley, John Krager, Alice Krager and Beverly Krager; daughters Cynthia Carlock and Brenda Burnett and granddaughters Shawn Drake and Crystal Burnett.  A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 5:00PM – 7:00PM. Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St. Dowagiac, with Pastor Thomas Stout Speaking at 5:00PM. Burial at South Wayne Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Ruby’s name may be made to the Cass County Council on Aging. Those wishing to leave a condolence online may do so at www.clarkch.com.
