Douglas “Doug” A. Smith, 63, of Cassopolis, Passed away, Thursday, September 6, 2018 at his home. A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Pokagon United Methodist Church, 31393 Kansas St., Dowagiac. Doug was born on November 19, 1954 in Harford to Frank Dallas Merrill & Betty Parish Smith. He proudly served his county in the United States Marine Corps. On November 5, 1988 he married the love of his life Kay Fobes in Bristol, Indiana. Doug worked as a truck driver for Grassmid Transport in Zeeland, Michigan for 4 years before retirement. He was known as a handy man and could fix anything, including making custom countertops. Doug was a man of strong faith and he loved people. Most of all he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Doug is survived by his loving wife, Kay Smith; children, Robert Jaseph Jr., Rhonda (Gregory) Ivens, Travis Smith and Ezekiel Smith; many grandchildren; and great grandchildren; 4 sisters and 2 brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents.
