David Carnegie

David W. Carnegie, Jr., 67, of Dowagiac, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date, with burial taking place at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles. Memorial contributions in David’s name may be made to the American Heart Association or a commemorative gift to the Lyric Opera of Chicago. David was born on July 18, 1951 in Chicago, IL to David and LaVerne (Carlberg) Carnegie, Sr. He graduated from Homewood Flossmoor High School in 1969, then went on to attend the University of Illinois where he earned his PHD in physics. David was an engineer working in the field of electromagnetics which he pursued throughout his career.  He enjoyed opera and listening to classical music. Later in life he returned to the Dowagiac, Michigan area, where he made and enjoyed many friendships. David is survived by his siblings Scott (Jean) Carnegie and Patricia Carnegie. He was preceded in death by his parents David and LaVerne Carnegie.
